1. How to count number of words? What is the standard? 

Quotation of translation service is directly determined by number of words. After years of practice, uniform word counting and charge standard has been formed in domestic translation industry. Method of word counting of Shandong QUSON Translation Service Co., Ltd. is set out in accordance with the Standard of Word Counting of Translation under the PRC National Standard: Specification for Translation Service. In accordance with this standard, the fee is calculated at different unit price per thousand words. 

The standard of word counting is in accordance with the pilot Standard of Word Counting of Translation under the PRC National Standard: Specification for Translation Service. Translation fee is counted in accordance with number of characters of Chinese text, which includes Chinese, foreign language, punctuation, formula and symbol, etc. Normally, "number of characters (excluding space)" under "word count" of toolbar of Microsoft Word document is used to count words. 

2. How to charge translation fees? 

For Foreign Language-Chinese inter-translation, number of Chinese characters is used for charging. 

A. Computational formula of fees for Chinese-Foreign Language translation: (number of characters × unit price)/1000 = translation fee 

B. Foreign language-Chinese translation: 

(1) One form of foreign language-Chinese translation service payment is post-payment for signed customers. "Number of characters (excluding space)" of target language - Chinese is used to count translation words. 

(2) For order customers, number of words needs to be calculated before the project started. Therefore, number of target language - Chinese words is calculated by this way: number of English words ("number of words" in Word document) x ratio between number of words in Chinese document and that in English document (1.6:1). Notes: based on years of project practice of most translation companies, ratio between number of Chinese words and that of English words is about 1.6:1. This is to say, if number of English words for translation is 3000, the number of targeted Chinese words is about 4800. In most cases, number of Chinese words obtained by conversion is lower than that obtained by directly count. 

(3) For foreign language - foreign language translation, we will discuss details personally. 

Notes: In most cases, number of Chinese words obtained by conversion is lower than that obtained by directly counting. Therefore, ratio 1.6 is for calculating roughly fees. Finally, translation fee will be accurately calculated based on actual number of words, and we will refund for any overpayment or a supplemental payment for any deficiency. 

3. Generally, how long can the customer receive translation? 

Shandong QUSON promises that we will submit translation within the agreed period. Generally, delivery time is 1-2 working days for document of 3000-4000 words, and for documents of more than 5000 words, delivery time will be added by 1-2 working days for every one thousand words. The translation period starts after we receive the translation requirements and all of remittance. For special documents, we will make another appointment. The emergency fee is required according to urgent degree if the customer asks for emergency service.
